LeBron James* has been an adamant and visible wearer of our custom mouthguards created by Sportsguard Laboratories Inc. (SLI), from his high school days at St. Vincent- St. Mary to his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. From LeBron’s gold King James guard featured in Sports Illustrated to the red white and blue guard worn to bring home the Olympic gold, LeBron’s mouthguard customization has evolved while the materials to make his guard have remained the same.
For the last decade, SLI has provided custom fit mouthguards to athletes of every age and level of competition, such as LeBron James, in a wide variety of competitive sports. Custom fabricated mouthguards offer the highest level of protection for athletes. SLI’s focus is to provide athletes of all ages custom fit mouthgaurds with affordable pricing, protection against injuries, a secure and customized fit while not inhibiting speaking and breathing.

Basketball Injuries:
As the number one team sport in the U.S., 42 million athletes participate in basketball. The likelihood of sustaining an oralfacial injury during practice or a game is 54.7%. However, studies show only 5.5% (2.3 million) of basketball participants wear athletic mouthguards, even though the likelihood of sustaining an injury to the mouth or teeth during practice or a game is 54.7%.
Currently, it is estimated that custom fabricated mouthguards offer the highest level of protection for athletes. Dental insurance companies have set the approved fee for dentists to charge their patients for athletic mouthguards at $185.00. However, SLI understands the importance of an affordable yet protective mouthguard. We have set our base price for the same custom athletic mouthguards at $49.99, 70% less than dental insurance companies.
Our Mission:
Even though we have enjoyed some success and have been able to work with many great athletes, we realize the cost involved by going through a dental professional for a mouthguard seriously inhibits the number of athletes that can be reached and protected. We believe this could start a trend to increase these numbers over the next few years.
